Drąsiaus kelias action in Brussels

The delegation of eight members of Lithuanian NGO “Drąsiaus kelias”, with the pastoral support of a priest, arrived yesterday to Brussels, after an 1800-km drive passing through the Polish snow storms to fetch pickets. They went to the European Parliament this 2nd of December morning, to request the application of EU laws regarding paedocriminality and child protection in Lithuania. They where told they needed an authorisation from the Belgian police and could not stay.

The “Drąsiaus kelias” delegation came to the foundation Princesses de Croÿ & Massimo Lancellotti and the NGO Morkhoven at 10 o'clock. We had a long conversation where I could explain the situation and the traps to avoid. We have agreed on the content of an EU petition and various actions. I have received the letter to the Pope signed by 135 people and will do my best to make it reach him.  We have tasted the wonderful Lithuanian sausage and they have tasted the Flemish coffee. We then went back all together to the European Parliament at around 1 o’clock, with a huge banderol of 4 meters saying “STOP CORRUPTION LITHUANIA”.

We were left in peace to take the photographs of the protest, by opposition to previous times. People have been filming and taking photographs of us, but the press was absent, because the Kedys case is under censorship in French speaking countries. We where banned to take the pickets in the EU shop, though I gave my word of honour we had no bomb with us. So some stayed outside to keep the pickets safe. An EU-vigil asked the president of NGO Morkhoven if we had permission. He answered: “yes of course, from the president of the EU-parliament”. The vigil did not find that funny and called the police. The Lithuanian delegation left the pickets with the president of Morkhoven and went to see other buildings of the EU-Parliament. By the time I came out of the shop with EU-pamphlets in Lithuanian, the vigil had called back the police to say it was not necessary to come.

We took lots of pictures in view to make a film.  I have received a lovely book about Lithuania.  We exchanged secret codes to be able to communicate without the Lithuanian and Belgian secret services to put there noses in our business.   The delegation of “Drąsiaus kelias” then left back to Lithuania at around 2 o’clock, for another 1.800 kilometres of snow storms and slippery roads to return home.
